Degree Programs in Mathematics and Statistics & Data Science

B.A. with a Major in Mathematics

The B.A. program in mathematics at Lehigh University emphasizes fundamental principles as well as the mastery of techniques required for the effective use of mathematics. The program provides a solid foundation for those who want to pursue a mathematically oriented career or advanced study in any mathematically oriented field. The program offers flexibility to be combined with a second major.

B.S. in Mathematics

The B.S. in Mathematics program at Lehigh University provides a more extensive and intensive study of mathematics and its applications than the B.A. Students can choose concentrations in Applied Mathematical Modeling, Probability and Statistics, Theoretical Mathematics or develop a program based on their own interests. The program provides a solid foundation for those who want to pursue a mathematically oriented career or advanced study in any mathematically oriented field.

B.A. with a Major in Statistics and Data Science

The B.A. program in statistics emphasizes fundamental principles for designing the process of data collection, for summarizing and interpreting data, and for drawing valid conclusions from data. The B.A. program provides a sufficient foundation for those who want to pursue a career in a field of applications of statistics and is flexible enough to be combined as a double major.

B.S. in Statistics and Data Science

The B.S. program in Statistics and Data Science at Lehigh University provides a body of principles for designing the process of data collection, for summarizing and interpreting data, and for drawing valid conclusions from data. Mathematical principles, especially probability theory, underlie all statistical analyses. Statistics forms a fundamental tool in the natural and social sciences as well as business, medicine and other areas of research. This program offers two tracks: a standard track and an applied track, as well as a concentration in Actuarial Science.

Declare a Mathematics or Statistics & Data Science Major

To successfully declare your major, you must first secure a faculty advisor, which can be done in one of two ways. You may reach out directly to any faculty member in the department to ask them to serve as your advisor. Alternatively, if you are unfamiliar with our faculty and need assistance identifying potential matches, please email inlumath@lehigh.edu with details about your primary topics of interest or post-graduation goals so we can suggest professors for you to contact. Once a faculty member formally agrees to be your advisor, you must notify us immediately so we can forward your Major Declaration form to them for the required signature to complete your process.
